Participating in his first official match in 1988 for the Dutch Wheelchair Basketball team, it wasn't long until Anton qualified for the 1992 Paralympic Games in Barcelona, with his team winning gold. Anton followed that up with further participation at the 1996 (7th place), 2000 (Silver Medal) and 2004 games (4th place).
Securing 4th place at the last European Championship in England, Anton still has the same passion and desire as he did at the age of 19 - and looks forward to his upcoming games. "My biggest challenge is striving to be better every time I play, I always try to be the best. I'm now 48 years old and I always strive to be better than the younger players, however that's not always guaranteed! Basketball has given me so many opportunities in life. I have a good job, a beautiful wife, fabulous kids and I've seen the world. What more could I possibly want?".
